Lost Season 2

You all saw it. You probably thought it was a flashback. I know I did. But, it turns out that the opening scene occurred inside the Hatch that was just blasted open.

Desmond was down there, pushing the Button every 108 minutes to save the world? From what? Well, the one time he delayed pushing it, he caused Oceanic Flight 815 to crash.

Season 2 was mainly about the Hatch and the scientific expedition, The Dharma Initiative, that came to the Island. They used the unique properties on the Island for research. Season 2 explained that the Hatch was used as for electromagnetic experiments, but there was "an incident"... and afterwards, the computer was installed to keep the electromagnetic energy from building up and causing devestation. And so when Desomnd left, Locke, Jack, and the other Survivors continued to push the button.

The Dharam Initiative revealed several mysteries. Why did they come to the Island? How did they find it? And why was food falling out of nowhere? It also revealed a bunch of other hatches- a medical station where Claire was taken when she was pregnant, for example. The Others did tests on her for some strange reason. There was also the Pearl, which was used did experiments on phsycology. And it was at first revealed that the Swan was nothing but an experiment to test the minds of people. Later, the Losties would find out that the Pearl Station was actually where the mind tests were being done.

Speaking of Others, a shipwrecked Sawyer, Michael, and Jin found other survivors of the crash from the tail section. By the time they met everyone, barely anyone was left. They either died or were taken by The Others. When the Tailies joined the Losties, Ana-Lucia accidently killed Shannon. She, like her brother, were the first death of Season 2.

It was also revealed that Mr. Eko has a connection with the Island. His brother was on a plane carrying drugs that crashed on the Island. He helped Charlie after Locke stopped believing. And he decided to push the button when Locke wanted to stop.

It wasn't until Desmond found the Losties camp that he and Locke plotted to have the timer get down to Zero. Then, they would find out if the Swan was real or fake.

Meanwhile, Michael found where the Others live. They live in huts, and also have a guarded hatch. He is briefly reunited with Walt. Afterwards, he is given an ultimatium: bring Jack, Sawyer, Kate, and Hurley to them, or he will never see Walt again. But if he does, he and Walt will be able to leave.

When he arrives back, he is surprised to see that a prisoner, claiming to be Henry Gale, is captured. It is revealed that the real Henry Gale is dead, and the imposter is really an Other. Micheal sets him free, kills Ana Lucia so there are no witnesses, and accidentaly kills Libby.

As Locke forces Eko to stop puhing the button, Michael leads the group of Losties to the Others. When we finally meet them, they are dressed primatively. They let Hurley go back to camp. Micheal and Walt are released, as a visibly angry Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are taken hostage. Just then, the sky lights up and turns purple.

They didn't push the button. Some odd hieroglyphics popped up on the countdown timer, and all metal things started flying towards a sinlge metal object. Locke realized he was wrong, and Desomd turned a Fail-Safe key to save the world. What would happen after that would be yet to be known.

And the final scene of Season 2 is a group of people on a boat notifying Desmond's girlfriend, Penelope Widmore, that "We found it".

Season 2, as a whole was very good. But in retrospect, not much happened. Still, I really enjoyed the Season. But would Season 3 be any better?

The Fringe Files: 2.5- "Dream Logic"

Case: Dream Logic- A man attacks his boss, believing him to be a demon-like creature.

History of Events: After a man attacks his boss thinking he his a demon, The Fringe Devision flies out to Seattle to investigate the srange occurance. After speaking with him, the man dies from such extreme exhaustion that his hair turns white. Walter decides to bring the body back to his lab with the help of another FBI agent while Olivia and Peter stay in Seattle. Back at the lab, he finds a microchip in the person's brain, and believes mind control was used. There's another death similar to what happened to the man, and Olivia finds the exact same findings. The chips lead the FBI to a doctor who was performing sleep studies on people with sleeping disorders. This chip, however, came with a sideffect. It made people dream while they were awake, and people had horrible nightmares, resulting in death. Walter performs a similar experiment on the FBI agent, but with a contraption that goes over the head instead of a microchip tin the brain. It turns out that the nice doctor is actually a dream addict with two personalities. He is the one causing these things to happen. He makes a plan to capture his alternate persona

Non-case Related Events: Walter and Peter have now moved into a bigger apartment. Olvia is still upset over losing Charlie. She tells a story to that bowling guy Sam about her first case. She wanted to run, but Charlie came over and said "You're gonna be fine". Throughout the entire episode, she was collecting busniess cards from everyone she met. At the end of the episode, it was revealed that the names on the cars was an anagram for "You're gonna be fine". Was it Charlie talking from beyond the grave? Finally, the last scene of the show was Peter having a nightmare about Walter when he was a kid. Could this be about his kidnapping from the alternate universe? Well, this much is certain: there was a poster in the room about a Challenger Space Shuttle mission that never occured.

IMO: I do love the monster mysteries on Fringe, but as the show progressed, I found out it wasn't about monsters at all. But I still enjoyed it. The new revelations about the Alternate Universe are always fun to get. And the whole business cards thing was cool and wierd at the same time.

The Fringe Files: 2.4- "Momentum Defered"

*Editor's Note: Lots of treats today! First we have The Fringe Files, then a Monk recap, and then your GH Weekly Update. The family member is now out of the hospital, so expect all columns to occur on time!

Case: Momentum Defered- Frozen human heads are being robbed, and people are being killed during these robberies.

History of Events: Shapeshifters keep stealing the frozen human heads. At the scene of the crime, where they find one of the shapeshifters dead. It turns out the shapeshifter's blood is pure mercury and is needed for said shapeshifter to survive. They also dicover the shapeshifter they thought was dead was actually alive. Walter then contacts the woman he experimented on with LSD and agrees to help. In the lab, she is once again given LSD and sees the shapeshifters. Olivia then remebers her travels back to the alternate Universe and sees William Bell. He then gives the Olivia a symbol in which they will be able to notify who their leader is. Later on, Olivia is attacked by Charlie, and Olivia realizes that Charlie is the shapeshifter. She kills him. In the final scene, we see a head of one of the shapeshifters reattaching itself to the body.

Non-case related Events: Walter gives Olivia a delicious flatworms milkshake to jog her memory. And it works. She remembers her conversation, and thats how she finds out information about the shapeshifters. Dr. Bell then tells her that "The Storm" is coming, which Nina Sharp explains to her is Bell's idea that the 2 Universes will collide, and only 1 will remain.

IMO: This was another great episode. It revealed alot, which is always nice. I'm so used to waiting years for answers to questions (Yes, I'm looking at you, Lost!) and on Fringe questions are answered fairly quickly. I am sad about the loss of Charlie. I really liked him. Not the shapeshifter Charlie, the real one. But we saw the other shapeshifter come back to life, so will the Charlie shapeshifter come back to life? Only time will tell.

The Fringe Files: 2.3- "Fracture"

Case: Fracture- A bomb detonates killing and injuring people, but there is no trace of any explosives.

History Of Events: The police officer is given a briefcase and soon begins to crystalize, then finnaly explodes. The Fringe Divison is soon put on the case, and Walter soon discovers that the Policeman was the bomb- he somehow exploded. As the investigation continues, the story moves to Iraq, where "Project Tinman" occurred, but was supposed to have been stopped. The experiment was continued, and was taken over to be used for evil by peoplewho wanted to eliminate the Observers, those beings who are interemensional and are in the backrounds of each episode. Another woman was being used to do the same thing in a hotel, but the guy was caught and the woman was saved. The man was interrogated, and that's how we found out about the plot to take out agents of the Observer.

Non-case related Events: Olivia is still seeing Sam, the bowling man. Her memory is still, for the most part, lost. Will she ever be able to remember? Peter is fed up with only having one bedroom in his apartment, so he wants to find another one. Walter is very picky about it, and most times stubborn. He reveals to Astrid that he likes where he lives now, and that's why he doesn't like any other apartment they look at. He likes his current home.

IMO: The case was good, but not as good as last weeks. For some reason, I really enjoy the monster cases, maybe that's why. Still, Fringe did not disapoint. But the whole Sam thing is kinda weird. And he bowls. Did they get this inspiration from Sam the Butcher on The Brady Bunch? Something to ponder...

The Fringe Files- 2.2: Night of Desirable Objects

*Editor's Note: With the start of the new season of Fringe and the start of my new Fringe Column, I thought I'd do something unique. Here, we have the Fringe Files. In the column, you'll find out what the case was about, how it was solved, and other important events that happened in the show.



Case: Night of Desirable Objects- People in Pennsylvania keep disapearing and cannot be found.

History of Events: A scientist's wife had lupis and could not carry a child to term. Instead if giving up hope, the scientist injects scorpian and mole DNA to help the child survive. They both presumably died. 17, Years later when people start disappearing around the home of the scientist, Olivia, Peter, and Walter investigate and are lead to open the caskets of the scientist's dead wife and baby. That's when they discover the wife had lupis, and therefore could not carry the baby to term. The baby however, appears to have borrowed out of the coffin. It is then suspected that do to the DNA, the child is alive and living underground around the scientist's home. The "superbaby" feasts on the people who disappeared, and then drags Olivia down there, with Peter following them. A tunnel collapes, killing the superbaby. The scientist commited suicide before this happened.

Non-case related Events: Walter tried to simulate Olivia's accident with frogs, and is convinced she visited another universe. Olivia seems to gain super hearing and can hear almost mute noises loudly, like flies walking and flying. Nina Sharp then gives Olivia info on how to reach a man, Sam Wiess, who can helo her. He works at a bowling alley. Meanwhile, the man who shapeshifted into Charlie can communicate with some unknown person in an alternate universe via a typewriter.
